Having a healthy, aligned smile is a reflection of great health and beauty. But tooth misalignment can happen to anyone. Whether it’s caused by genetics or losing a tooth, teeth easily drift out of place. The gaps or crowding left behind can make your mouth prone to enamel wear, cavities and gum disease.
Thankfully, you can enjoy straighter teeth without having to wear braces. Invisalign® is a clear orthodontic alignment system that straightens your smile with a series of invisible, removable trays.
We’ve compiled some of the most frequently asked questions to help you make the right choice about your teeth straightening experience.
How does Invisalign work?
Translucent aligners snap over your teeth, applying specific points of pressure throughout your mouth. You wear the trays for 22 hours a day, removing them during meals or when brushing. Change your trays out every two weeks with the next set in the digitally mapped series. Your teeth will straighten without adjustments to wires or bands.
Are invisible braces comfortable?
Yes. There are no wires or metal brackets to irritate the inside of your mouth. While you’ll still feel a bit of pressure, Invisalign is a comfortable alternative to conventional treatments.
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
Many people choose not to straighten their teeth because they don’t want to wear traditional braces. Invisalign provides you with a discreet, convenient alternative that doesn’t require special care or dietary changes. Even the length and number of appointments are less.
Does Invisalign change the way I talk?
While you will need to slightly adjust to wearing Invisalign, the thin aligners won’t make that much of a difference in your speech. At the beginning (before you’ve practiced) you may notice a small lisp.
Is there anything cheaper than Invisalign?
Invisalign pioneered invisible braces. Since its production, a number of smaller companies have come out with similar designs. However, Invisalign has been on the market for well over 20 years, making it the leader in clear braces technology.
Why can’t I get an Invisalign quote over the phone?
As with any type of braces, Invisalign prices are based on the extent of tooth movement you need and the length of your treatment. Fortunately, it’s easy to get a price quote by scheduling a brief consultation with our dentist.
